The enduro highlight in the alps
The "Bahnentour" is the enduro highlight of the Alps. The whole day is spent exclusively on single trails, no descent is ridden twice and a mountain railroad is used for (almost) all ascents. The original route with almost 10,000 vertical meters is available in Davos Klosters, the flow version with 6400 vertical meters can be ridden in Engadin St. Moritz, and the two-day version with 125 kilometers is available in Arosa Lenzerheide and Chur. The youngest child is the Bahnentour Aletsch in Valais, with ten descents covering over 10,000 vertical meters on challenging single trails.
Bahnentour Aletsch
The Aletsch Arena in Valais is in the top league when it comes to scenery and single trails. And with the feeder lifts to the high plateau of Fiescheralp, Bettmeralp and Riederalp as well as three other mountain railroads with bike transport, the region is perfect for a Bahnentour. Seven extremely long descents and three shorter transfer sections add up to over 10,000 meters of downhill altitude.
If you want to tackle the Bahnentour Aletsch, it is best to arrive the day before so that you can catch the first cable car early in the morning. The many accommodation options on the Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp are exceptional. As a starting point, they allow an early start without having to take the cable car up the mountain first. And if you are already in the area, you should ideally stay another night. The single trails in the Aletsch Arena offer even more options than the trails on the cable car tour. In addition to the feeder lifts from the valley to the plateau of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp, three other mountain lifts are in operation for bike transport in the Aletsch Arena in summer. The Bahnentour is a combination of these cable cars, covering over 10,000 meters of downhill altitude - a unique experience. The tour requires very good and safe riding technique in alpine terrain and adherence to the timetable. On the Bahnentour Aletsch, you are pushing yourself to the limit of what is possible, which is why many people don't manage the route at the first attempt. There are no breaks or lunch stops, but the trail experience is all the more intense. If you want to take it easier but still don't want to miss any of the singletrail sections, you can complete the Bahnentour Aletsch in two days. Depending on where you start, you can choose the route variant beginning on Riederalp or Fiescheralp, whereby the sequence of trails varies.

Starting on Fiescheralp, you begin the long Bahnentour day with the ascent to Märjelen. After that, the mountain railroads take over most of the ascents. Ten different descents add up to over 10,000 meters of descent. The trails are always challenging, but can be ridden throughout with the right riding technique.

Those who want to tackle the Engadin cable car tour should arrive the day before to catch the first cable car up to Corviglia early in the morning. The singletrail world of the Upper Engadin offers even more options than the singletrails on the Bahnentour.
